Is it okay to have an internal transfer (same company, from East Coast to West Coast) after obtaining the Green Card? Or transferring after 6 months to 1 year would be better?
If it's okay to transfer right away, does the new position need to have the same/similar title, duties, and salary?

Officially hold on taking promotions. Practically taking additional responsibility should not be an issue. For example, let us say you got GC as a Sr. Software developer, in 6 months you may get promoted to Lead Developer. Point to be noted is hold all the current responsibility, in addition take new role like team lead and project management.

But as it is evident from the mail...they are not at all sincere in their reply. If receipt date is the issue then I won't have been approved either and nor would hundreds of my friends and colleagues who have got approved having receipt dates after me. Also our receipt date is July 23rd 2007 as is in the receipt notice from TSC and TSC is currently processing Mid -August. So TSC is not even looking at her case and just sending you a standard reply. This is the same reply that I received on opening a service request at TSC, I had hopes that they would treat inquiry from Congressman's office with more due diligence.
All I need to know is what is holding her approval and if anything we can do to fix. I have got that" to wait 90 day' reply last year also. Let's see what they have to tell about the FP/Biometrics.
Problem is I can't even leave the country without the green card now that I am approved but god knows when I will get that...All my colleagues at work have got their physical cards for their entire family in mail and that's what hurting me about the inconsistency of the way they treat applications.

Yes i called the original civil surgeon and the tb test is going to cost $15 only and xray $40.
I found the reason i got the rfe.
I had a copy of the last tb test report.
That civil surgeon forgot to check mark the tb test !!!!
He checked a different section !!!
I feel bad that i missed to read it!
I could have rectified the darn doctor then and there.
It was during the july fiasco. We were all in a hurry and tensed up.

I would go with the prediction in the Jan 2010 Visa Bulletin:

The reason why i anticipate much larger movements in the final months is due to the fact that India gets about 3 times more visas through fall-across/fall-down than what is alloted for just India.

Though, this kind of encouraging news pops up every now and then in the media - we have to (as part of the IV group), work toward getting our provisions passed in whichever Immigration Bill that is on the floor for discussion.
It's surprising that IV is the only group representing the "highly skilled group" and though 100s' of thousands have been affected by the "retrogression" phenomena, we have just about 9000 members...
Let's hope something concrete gets done, this year!

Hello all,
Does any body know why DOS isn't applying the spill over on quarterly basis... Law clearly stipulates that unused visa's should go to retrogressed countries..
Excerpt from may visa bulletin:
llocation of “otherwise unused” numbers in accordance with Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) Section 202(a)(5)
INA Section 202(a)(5) provides that if total demand in a calendar quarter will be insufficient to use all available numbers in an Employment preference, then the unused numbers may be made available without regard to the annual per-country limits.

My 485 got approved on Aug 6th 2010 and I received my Approval notice on Aug 14h. I haven't received the card yet.
My 485 status changed from "Initial Review" to "Post Decision Activity".
Anyone with similar situation? Does anyone know what to do now or do I need to wait for USCIS to mail the card?

I went through similar circumstances and finally I found that US was the better choice

The risk/reward matrix for my situation is as follows:
Stay in USA/green card comes = most assurance of good job and pay.
Go to Canada/green card denied= harder to find job and less pay, but at least not deported.
Go to Canada/green card comes = I'll survive, but there's the possibility that I'll be kicking myself for a long time.
Stay in USA/green card denied = I'll probably jump off a building. :D
So you see it pretty much all depends on how much assurance there is of getting the green card after 140 clears.

Just heard on CNN that CIR is back on the Senate floor for sure. They have agreed to some compromise. We need to watch our for what has been agreed to and make sure that our requirements are not missed out, else all we will have for ever is a PENDING 485 APPLICATION
