Latest update from shusterman about bridge legislation for schedule A:
Now, Senator Schumer is seeking to attach the Hutchison-Durbin Amendment to a piece of "must pass" legislation in August. For more information about the immigration of nurses and physical therapists, see "Nurse" page at
http://shusterman.com/toc-rn.html
and "Allied Health Professionals" page at
http://shusterman.com/toc-ahp.html
Hope they will pass it this time....
Questions:
When will be the August recess?
Are there any "must pass" bills, good for such an attachment, scheduled in the senate before the August recess?

Now we can take the thread back to the original issue Order Of I-485 Processing.
Back to the original thread
With this July VB fiasco, thousands of people with the recent priority dates will be able to apply alongside the applicants with much older priority dates and depending on how the USCIS issues the receipt notices or how fast their lawyers can file, some with older priority dates will fall behind in terms of receiving the receipt dates.
Note: Even a few days' difference in receipt dates could matter due to the quota when thousands apply in the same month
So the question on the table is:
How would USCIS process the cases now that many recent priority date filers were able to beat (sarcasm:thanks to DOS and USCIS!) the older priority date filers in getting the receipt notices?
.

I just came to know about this site on July 11.
Liked the idea about sending flowers and immediately send one basket of flowers to Mr Emilio for July 12 delivery along with a get well soon card.:) Also send letters to local congressmen etc.
After this amazingly delightful news yesterday, I gave $200 to IV..and as mentioned earlier have set up a $50/m recurring deposit just now.
For all those who have still not contributed...
What in the world are you waiting for??
Lightening to strike?? Permission from your local anti immigrant bunch??
Isn't this sufficient to let you know that IV core and other senior members of their team are ABSOLUTELY COMMITTED to our cause??
Do you want another VB fiasco to happen?? Are you going to wait till our 485's are stuck for 2-3 years and then again come to this forum for answers??
Please, please go ahead and contribute....

Not sure if anyone else has faced this so wanted to put this out: I own a home and have a loan on it since 2003 (I was on H1 when i took the loan), now that the ARM is about to adjust i am in the market for refinance.
There is however a question on all the loans underwritten by freddy/fanny asking for immigration status and if the answer is EAD the loan is denied. They even sent me an explanation of denial.....
I was in the exact same boat 3-4 months ago. I had even paid $ 400 for appraisal and at the last minute the lender backed out.
However, I have managed to secure refinancing at a substantially lower rate with a different mortgage company. Send me a PM and I can let you know the details if you are still in the market for a refi.

doin the math...
200Million / 2k = 125k H1 employees that will fall in 50-50 rule?
Is that a realistic number? does body shop based consulting companies have that many employees?
If thats not right , that bill is just waste on their efforts ? huh?

I finally got the Loan Approved !
The underwriters was OK with my H1B + I-140 Approval + I-485 Reciept.
Thank you all for the tips and leads.
After a long 60 day wait, I m finally getting the house on Monday. :)
Congratulations!
I never had a problem with my immigration status in regards to getting a home loan. In fact, I got approval from 3 banks and I chose the one with lowest interest.

I don't think it's possible, or people will all file to Chicago. There is one thing you can do though, which is to write to Atlanta center and express your concerns. Probably also write to the higher officials to the Department of Labor. I believe the more people write to them, the more chances they will look at it seriously.
I have wrote to the office of DOL secretary, Elaine Chao, to express my concern and that the deplay could mean seriously delay for us, who live and work in the country legally, pay taxes and fees, to file for green card application. I suggest you all to do this.
I agree. Email and call below dol personnnel as well.

I have refinanced with Wells Fargo without any issues. If you need more details, please PM me.

It is a very good idea. Countries which gives Permanent Residency based on the numbers of years stayed, I believe that is what they must be considering as priority date. U.S. immigration system was discovered by Einsteins & Newtons; There are 1000's fo laws & regulation. And look what's the outcome. A person could be waiting for 10 years and another person can get it right away if he/she can find a good old labor :) :) :) :D :D :o :o
Does it make sense to request for first arrival date to be considered as the priority date for immigration purposes? Just a thought!!!

Why can't we have a fax campaign like NumbersUSA and fax the respective senators.
I think when it is re-introduced again we need to flood the nay/abstained senators with faxes asking them for changing the vote.
Thanks,
Sanjay.

Hi All,
I am an IV member living in Southern California. I wanted to give a loud 'hello' out to all members in this region. It will be great to know some of the members so that we can interact. Can you please post back a response with what counties you live in? This way we can get some idea about where members are residing.
Looking forward to your responses.
Cheers,
Jimi

I called the congresswomen and senator from our constituencies. They do not have any idea what I am talking about. I think I made them more confused than ever.
We need to come up with a letter format, which can be printed and send it to them by mail as well as we need to have web fax with a clear message.

Thanks for your reply. Infact I talked to the manager(Supervisor) at two DMV locations in Houston TX. First one only told me about this rule. At second place, since I insisted they showed me the rule in writing. I also expressed my frustration asking what kind of rule is this? They just washed hands saying they didn't make the rule and put the blame on texas legislature and parliament! Anyways will try your written rejection letter option.
Suprised to read that you were able to make it in texas. Does your DL has Temporary Visitor Status Expies <Date> stamp on it?
