I would love to take the lead with this project. I have done a fund raising initiative for Arthritis Foundation of America when I ran the Mardi Gras Marathon in honor of my mom. I raised $1,100 in a 6 month period for the AFA. The idea I have is that Team IV members will participate at their local events and we should pick 3 national events such as the Chicago Marathon/Half Marathon, the Breakers 10K (is that San Diego?) and even the Crescent City Classic 10K right here in my hometown. Team IV should be well represented at these 3 national events.

Team IV members can set up an e-mail support group when training for any events. There are numerous on-line training guides which we can use. And I can also look into the idea of an on-line training coach.

I already have the committment from 4 friends, all of whom are US Citizens, to join this Team because they support our cause.

This is great NolanIndian and I wish you guys all the best!!! Unfortunately I am going to have to watch from the sidelines so to speak as I have ongoing bursitus from marathon antics in 2006--Go IV and watch out for those joints and tendons ;)

    Hello friends,

I wrote an email to the president today. I felt so good after doing 2 things today. Expressed my anguish to the president of the United States and contributed to Immigration Voice. Buddies lets do something. We have always been low on priority compared to other pressing issues. Well Ok we waited, the economy is turning (well OK we will never see the actual turn at least we have seen retail spending up and some hiring, the stock market is going OK). When will be emerge out of the shadows and demand for a reform to the broken legal system? Cmon friends Get up, contribute, write to the senators, the president, lets DO something. When we are legal, why do we HOLD back. Up and running our new slogan!!!!

    $100 contribution confirmation

An email with your order summary has been sent to xxx@xxx.com

    Here is my email

    Hello Mr Obama,

Although I am not a US Citizen yet, I have supported you all along. I think you are really dynamic and a fantastic person.
Mr. Obama, Legal immigration rules in the country are outdated. I am from India, I work at <Where ever in the USA> and design databases.
I filed for legal immigration under the employment immigration category in April 2005.
The dates are still so retrogressed that it will take me a long time to fulfill my dream of obtaining a green card and becoming a US Citizen.
I want to stay here, work here and do something as a Citizen by working for the US Government.
How do I fulfill my dream if the system takes so long to process my application.
I contribute every single day to my organization. I am qualified, hard working, but why does it take so long to legally immigrate to this great country.
Please hear my plea to speed up the immigration process.

Addressing The President by name would be considered desrespect and your email/letter could be discarded. I would suggest if your message is to be heard, re-write the message addressing as Mr President and appologize for using his name earlier.

    Dear Sir,

I have 12 years of experience in IT industry and I have my I 140 approved in EB3 category.
Since I have only 3 years degree from India, I can't file the GC in EB2 category. So I have decided to do postgraduate diploma in IT management from Universitas 21 (http://www.universitas21.com/about.html). I found they are quality education provider but not aacsb accredited. So in that case after completing diploma in postgraduate can I upgrade my GC to EB2 category?

At present I am not worried about the position required for EB 2 filing because I am an architect and can easily switch to different company and get decent salary. But what I realized only job and salary won't help until I have proper education.

So it is my request to appropriately guide me aboud the eudcation perspective whether I am on right path or not. Also is diploma is sufficient or I need to masters too?

For your reference I have attached sample certificate coming out from U21 for the diploma in IT management.

    No use....

Let me preface this by stating that I have not yet shot with a D70, however I have heard very good things about it...particularly for it's price. IMHO, the best test of a camera is done in the field. By in "in the field", I mean does it allow you to do what you want it to do. A DSLR has a learning curve if you're coming from a P&S. Once you begin to master a DSLR, theimage quality bill be much better, and you also have much greater ability for creativity. If you want a D70, I'd take the info you've read regarding various issues with a grain of salt. Buy one from a reputable dealer that allows returns if it does'nt meet your expectations.
After deciding to buy the Nikon D70 I began to read a number of posts to the pReview forum that had D70 owners citing backfocusing problems with their new D70s. All resorted to sending their cameras to the Nikon Service Center for repair. All reported at least some measure of correction but some indicated they could not achieve precise focus within the DOF for each of the Nikon compatible lenses they owned and are useable with the D70.

I own two Sonys (the F707 and the V1). Both, in my view achieve remarkable clarity, color and brightness right out of the box. AF on both is, again in my view, is extraordinary. So, I would be very disappointed if I were to spend 1500 or more bucks (with some accessories) to arrive at inferior imagery.

It is possible what I am reading is the view of purists who are able to "see" focus flaws that the more casual, but still demanding, amateur photogs would dismiss?

Has anyone out there had experience with the backfocusing problem to which I refer?

When you transfer money outside the USA, one of the questions that FDIC mandates the finanacial institution collect is: SOURCE OF FUNDS. If you put this as "salary" then you (and your employer) have ALREADY paid (or will pay by next year) on these funds. There are no additional US taxes on the money. If the money was not earned thru salary (which would not be legal since you are on H1B) then you will need to declare it while filing taxes. If the money was NOT earned "under the table" and was above $600 then, the payer will send you a for called 1099 which will show how much you were paid and you have to pay appropriate taxes on that amount. In your case it most likely looks like "salary", so you have nothing to worry about.

I think you misunderstood. The OP is talking about his friend, his company and payment from clients. It has nothing to do with salary

Why shud he call the anti immigrant by that filthy word when all or most of what that guy conveyed with his post are nothin but pure facts. There r hundreds of gultis doing all sorts of illegal stuff in the name of immigration without any shame. Theres a saying that goes like..."If u tell someone as it is, he protests and kicks on ur chest" which seems very appropriate here.

I remember, you were the one to fuel fight between Andhrites and others. You were also active on threads on Muslims vs others.

    What is your agenda, notmybuddy?

You need to also correct your fake profile if you want anyone to take you seriously.

Glad to see there is some hope in future for EB3 I.

But we shouldn't rest on these hopes. If we can get at-least couple of items on IV agenda (recapture , STEM) passed we should all be greened for sure.

    Heres hoping for the best.

But with the new rule, it doesn't matter if FBI name check is pending. If your PD is current, whether your name check is pendign or not GC will be approved.

    Am I correct?

GC will be approved contingent on the grounds that it can be cancelled/annulled if the FBI name check comes up not in your favour when the FBI finally reviews your name ..In a way, it's a conditional approval till the actual FBI clearance....IV seniors may be better at answering this.

I applied for EAD for my wife to get the SSN to get the Stiumulus package (What a riddle created by the system). The funny part is that USCIS cashed my check within 12 hours of my application being received.

I wish this happened for H1 transfers, issue of EAD, I-485 etc etc. Oh,..now they will be understaffed and over worked ...and the list goes on and on.

Sometimes I think that rather than writing to these politicians ,we should write to USCIS.This retrogression is caused by them. They didn't wait for any bill to be passed for this retrogression. There is no use of talking to politicians, they don't care.
I know that USCIS will not care either but USCIS did it out of nowhere ,till sep2005,everything was fine for them and suddenly in oct 2005,they put us in backward direction. Now after a year and a half ,we are at the same spot, waiting for the visa bulletin and staying depressed for a day or two after seeing it.
I don't know .I am so mad at everybody.
    Sorry for the ranting.
Btw,i have already sent emails to USCIS and chicago tribune regarding this .

Change of states is trigeering RFE. If you have moved considerable distance from your previous location the RFE will ask for an updated EVL explaining that you still have the job. Which can be easily addressed by your employer & lawyer. So dont worry and wait for 5 working days to receive the RFE.

    number of PERM approvals from 03/28/2005 - 10/1/2006 = 83,151

assuming 60% of those are for EB2 and EB3 (EB3 other workers are also included in the total 83151 count) = 49,890 ~ 50,000

    50,000 = 39% of 128,000 unique labor certifications/primary applicants.

from my perspective this is very promising

    I-94 on current I797 expires 4/30/2007
Am expecting H1B approval 4/30/2007-4/30/2010 soon.

Plan to travel in February 2007.

One thing I noticed is my previous visa stamps only had a end date but no start date. So I am guessing/hoping the start date is effectively dictated by I797 (which I will have 2 of).

Stop whining and move on with life. There is still a long way to go.

    One worthless post!!!

Thank you for your information.I hope you know the situation right now in USA.In jan 2010 H1 people came to Newark Airport were asked to form in a separate queue as soon as they get down from the flight for two levels of interview. Some of them are sent back. Now you can't find employer to transfer your H1 immediately. Before two years it was possible to transfer H1 with out having recent pay stubs and they never asked client letter. Now if you don't have a job you can't transfer your H1 to anybody.
Before Sep 2009 it was two minutes time to take LCA. Now it takes 1 week time to approve LCA. We never heard about Employer-Employee relationship before 2010.

The approval of h1 will not invalidate H4 visa. The usage of h1 visa invalidates H4 visa.
if you have h1 approved and don't join the company, then your h4 remains intact. Once you join a company on h1, you will fill out i-9 form, which informs the concerend authorities about your status change.

    tabletpc,

Look at tv25's post. He/She alreday used the H1B...tv25 mentioned that she/he worked on H1B for three months. That would have invalidated her h4 visa.

tv25 shouldn't have entered using H4 visa that got invalidated as soon as the H1B was used.

This is a serious issue and as all others are saying, tv25 needs to contact an expert immigration lawyer.

    thanks

I have two passports one with H4 Visa stamped and another Surname changed. While entering US, I have used my name as in the Visa (new surname) in the I-94 card.

I have applied for H1B with new surname in this May and change of Status with that I-94.
During H1 processing, I have travelled out of US and while entering back I have used old surname( as sometime back DMV ppl told that the name on I-94 should match with H4 Visa)

Now I got H1 approval and COS approval with my middle name taken as first name and new surname.

    1) First thing is, the I-94 on COS approval and I-94, currently present in my Passport does not match.
    2) First name and middle name are interchanged in the passport and H1 approval.
Is this going to create any problem while applying SSN? What are the possible consequences..

Also, any similar scenarios, plz respond..

    Are we confused or you...

you said that you entered on new surname passport and so your i94 will have new surname..

now when again you reentered you entered on old h4 with old surname...

so you have entered US with two different surnames ...

DMV told you correctly..always your surname should match the surname in visa stamp...

you are lucky that immigration officer at port of entry might have overlooked your case..otherwise you must be in your home country by now..

you are in a serious trouble..surname issue is very big..consult a good attroney than posting in the board...

    Good Luck!!!
